video: New Celtic James Young’s Vicious National Championship Dunk

Friday, June 27, 2014

The Celtics drafted Young with the 17th overall pick in the 2014 NBA Draft.

New Celtics draft pick James Young averaged 14.3 points per game last season as a freshman at Kentucky, but his ridiculous dunk in the National Championship Game against UConn was the highlight of his brief college career.

Video of the dunk is below.

With Kentucky trailing in the second half, Young nearly single-handedly swung the momentum of the game when he rose above (and through) multiple UConn defenders to throw down the dunk of the year in college basketball.

Boston will be looking for a similar spark from Young in the future as they continue to rebuild their team.

As for Young's first chance to wear Celtic green, the team opens summer league play July 5th.
