Connor Fitzgerald kicks game winner for the Crusaders

The Holy Cross Crusaders (4-4, 1-2 PL) defeated (4-4, 2-1 NEC) Bryant University 34-33 on Saturday afternoon at Fitton Field. The Crusaders have now won two straight games.

Taking over possession with 1:07 to play in the game, Holy Cross quarterback Peter Pujals drove the Crusaders to the Bryant 14 yard line where kick Connor Fitzgerald would convert a game winning 31 yard field goal to put Holy Cross up 34-33 with only 13 seconds left to play.

Bryant took two deep shots down the field in their final possession but both would fall incomplete giving Holy Cross the win.

Come back.

Bryant led 33-24 with 6:30 left in the game when Holy Cross's Peter Pujals found Kalif Raymond for an 11 yard touchdown pass with 6:16 left to play. After the extra point was good, the Crusaders trailed 33-31.

Three offensive possessions would go by before the Crusaders finally cashed in after getting the ball back with 1:07 to play in the game.

Pujals's game winning drive took seven plays, including five passes, one rush and the game winning field goal.

Notable Stats

Peter Pujals was 30 of 53 for 297 yards with two touchdowns and two interceptions while also rushing the ball 14 times for 63 yards.

Brendan Flaherty led Holy Cross receivers with 13 catches for 141 yards and a touchdown.
