NEW: Worcester Native Rob Hennigan Named Orlando Magic GM

Wednesday, June 20, 2012

Worcester native Rob Hennigan has been named the new General Manager of the Orlando Magic.

After serving four years with the Oklahoma City Thunder in various capacities, the 30-year old Hennigan will become the youngest General Manager in the NBA. Orlando Magic CEO Alex Martins made it official today.

"It is with great enthusiasm and optimism that we announce Rob Hennigan as our new General Manager,” Martins said. “Rob is an astute strategist and evaluator of talent who comes to the Magic family from two championship-level organizations. We feel he is an outstanding fit and the right choice to lead our Basketball Operations team in achieving our championship goals.”

Hennigan declined to comment until his introductory press conference tomorrow at 3 pm in Orlando. Check back with GoLocalWorcester for more on this developing story. For more on Hennigan's journey from Worcester to the NBA, click here.
