Red Sox 6 Game Winning Streak Snapped, Fall to Seattle 5-0
Monday, May 29, 2017
The Red Sox only managed five hits and no runs as they would fall 5-0 to the Seattle Mariners in the series finale on Sunday at Fenway Park.
Reigning AL Cy Young Award winner Rick Porcello gave up 11 hits and two runs, picking up the loss. He is now 3-6 on the season.
Boston falls to 27-22 on the season.
Seattle Gets on the Board
The Seattle Mariners had been shut out for the first 21 innings of the series, but that ended in the fourth inning.
Seattle’s Kyle Seager scored from third base after a pitch from Porcello bounced over catcher Sandy Leon and onto the screen to give the Mariners a 1-0 lead.
The Mariners would add to their lead in the 7th when Nelson Cruz hit an RBI single to score Carlos Ruiz, giving the Mariners a 2-0 lead.
In the 8th, Guillermo Heredia blasted a solo home run over the Green Monster and Robinson Cano hit a two-run home run to center field in the 9th giving the Mariners a 5-0 lead. The score they would go on to win by.
David Price Returns Against Chicago
Next up, the Red Sox will welcome David Price on Monday for the first game of a three-game series against the Chicago White Sox in Chicago.
Price will face Chicago’s David Holmberg.
First pitch for Monday’s game is set for 2:10 p.m.
