Red Sox Avoid Sweep, Roll Past A’s 12-3

The Red Sox have not been swept in a four game series since July of 2015.
Boston improves to 22-21.
Red Sox Grab Lead, Break Game Open Late
Trailing 3-2 in the top of the 5th, Boston’s Mookie Betts tied the game on a RBI single to right field that scored Christian Vazquez.
One batter later, Dustin Pedroia gave the Red Sox the lead with a single into center that scored Betts, putting the Red Sox up 4-3.
Boston would add to their lead in the top of the sixth inning after Mitch Moreland hit a two run home run, scoring Hanley Ramirez, giving the Red Sox a 6-3 lead.
Boston would add another run in the 8th before exploding for five runs in the top of the 9th, fueled by a two RBI double by Ramirez.
Boston pitcher Eduardo Rodriguez got the win, giving up three runs and striking out eight in eight innings of work.
Next up
The Red Sox will have a day off on Monday before returning to Fenway Park to face the Texas Rangers on Tuesday, May 23.
Rick Porcello will make the start for the Red Sox while Andrew Cashner. First pitch is set for 7 p.m .
