Friday, June 09, 2017
Price, who drops to 1-1 on the season, is now 14-11 with an ERA of 4.70 all-time against the Yankees. He has a career ERA of 3.01 against all other major league teams.
The loss drops the Red Sox to 32-27 overall on the year and three games back of the Yankees for first place in the Al East.
Yankees Dominate Red Sox
Already leading 1-0 in the third inning, New York’s Gary Sanchez hit a three-run home run to left field scoring Aaron Judge and Matt Holiday to put the Yankees up 4-0.
The Red Sox would get a run back in the top of the fourth when Xander Bogaerts scored on a passed ball to cut their deficit to three.
However, the Yankees would get it right back in the 5th when Sanchez would hit a two-run home run, his second home run of the game, to give New York a 6-1 lead.
New York would add a run in the sixth and then two runs in the 8th, one coming on a home run by Brett Gardner to take a 9-1 lead and the win.
After registering only five hits in Wednesday night’s game, the Red Sox managed only four hits in Thursday’s game.
Boston, who won the first game of the series, has been outscored 17-1 over the last two games.
