Scott Cordischi On Sports: 6 Pats Pro Bowlers

Wednesday, December 29, 2010

Tom Brady was named the starting quarterback for the AFC Pro Bowl squad. However, your chances of seeing him play in Honolulu on January 30, 2011 are slim.

Brady and the Patriots certainly hope that they are preparing to play in the Super Bowl the following week in Dallas which would preclude him and his 5 teammates selected to the squad from playing in the game.

However, even if the Patriots get upset before Super Bowl XLV, don’t expect Brady to play. When a player has reached the stage in his hall of fame career that Brady has, there’s no need to play in such a meaningless game. Add to that the fact that Brady lost an entire season two years ago to a knee injury and you can almost guarantee that TB12 won’t be seen on the field in Honolulu.

-In case you were wondering, Logan Mankins, Vince Wilfork, Jerod Mayo, Brandon Merriweather and Devin McCourty were the other 5 Patriots selected to the AFC Pro Bowl squad.

-And all of the so-called draft gurus said that the rookie McCourty would be nothing more than a special teams contributor in the NFL.

-Brandon Merriweather? Really?

-Why is it that Shaq could get away with muscling his way to the basket down low when he wasn’t a Celtic, but now that he is he gets called for offensive fouls?

-Michael Vick’s performance in last night’s loss to Minnesota all but locked up the NFL’s MVP award for Tom Brady.

-I don’t know about you, but I won’t be disappointed if the NY Giants don’t make the playoffs.

-Apparently all the Bruins needed was the sight of palm trees to turn things around.

-Whatever happened to Roger Goodell ruling quickly on the Brett Favre-Jen Sterger case?

-I can take the cold and the snow. It’s the wind I can do without.

-It’s amazing to see how the same stretch of road is plowed and treated so much better in Massachusetts as opposed to Rhode Island.

-Take a good look at Tony Sporano if you’re going to Foxboro Sunday because he’ll likely be coaching his last game for the Dolphins.

-I have no idea how I got through Sunday’s blizzard without first going out to stock up on bread and milk.

-Then again, drinking milk and eating toast isn’t exactly my idea of having a blast while snowbound in my home.

-In all due respect to Nate Robinson, the Celtics are better off having Paul Pierce play point-forward while Rajon Rondo is out due to injury.

-Listening to substitute sports talk radio the week between Christmas and New Year’s is painful.

-My New Year’s resolution is to not make any New Year’s resolutions.
