Scott Cordischi On Sports: Rex Ryan At A Loss

Wednesday, December 15, 2010

Last week, Jets coach Rex Ryan buried the game ball from their 45-3 drubbing at the hands of the Patriots. What’s he going to bury this week after their 10-6 home loss to Miami? The game plan? How about the Jets Super Bowl hopes? Whatever it is, he had better figure out a way to turn his team around quickly because on deck is a trip to Pittsburgh to take on the Steelers at Heinz Field.

-Who plays better in the snow, the Patriots, polar bears or penguins?

-Even without Orion Outerbridge and Jamal Wilson, URI’s loss to Quinnipiac was a bad one.

-Why haven’t more college basketball teams tried to play 2-3 zone like Syracuse?

-Good for Cliff Lee!  Apparently money isn't all that matters to him.

-I’m not sure who the biggest threat to the Patriots is in the AFC, but if I had to pick two I’d say Baltimore and Pittsburgh, both of whom New England has beaten this season.

-The roof caved in on the Minnesota Vikings long before last Sunday.

-Jets strength and conditioning coach Sal Alosi can apologize all that he wants, but what it Miami’s Nolan Carroll had suffered a career ending injury?

-Brett Favre’s consecutive starts streak coming to end at 297 is another reason he should consider retiring permanently this offseason.

-I have a Heisman Trophy vote and I voted for Auburn’s Cam Newton unlike some of my colleagues who decided to play moral judge and jury and leave him off of their ballots.

-Don’t look now, but the Miami Heat have won 9 in a row.

-The addition of Adrian Gonzalez and Carl Crawford is great, but the Red Sox season still depends upon Josh Beckett and John Lackey rebounding from last season’s subpar performances.

-What will Brian Cashman and the Yankees do now?

-If you’re a Patriots fan, the only thing more enjoyable than watching your team dominate their opponents the past few weeks is reading the NY Post sports writers ripping Rex Ryan and the Jets after their back-to-back losses.

-Was that Bill Belichick or Darth Vader on the Patriots sideline in Chicago Sunday?

-While we marvel at the Pats great play of late, what goes unnoticed is the great play by the Boston Celtics this season.

-The Atlanta Falcons may have the best record in the NFC, but don’t sleep on the defending champion New Orleans Saints.

-If Pettitte retires, the new saying in NY will be, "CC Sabathia and pray for 4 days of rain!"

-Deion Branch going from Seattle to New England was like going from the outhouse to the White House.
