Celtics fans are watching the future in Rajon Rondo this postseason. As the Big Three continue to age, Rondo continues to bring an energy and quickness to this team that they have been lacking this season. With Ray Allen’s contract set to expire at season’s end, we do not know if his future will be here in Boston or elsewhere. Ditto for Pierce and Garnett whose contracts come off the books in each of the next two years. What we do know is that Rondo is now the centerpiece around which Danny Ainge and the Celtics will build moving forward.

-Raise your hand if you thought that the B’s/Flyers series was going to make it to game 6 after Boston raced out to a 3-0 lead in the best-of-seven.

-Jon Lester is now the Red Sox ace. Not Josh Beckett.

-We all knew that Brown coach Jesse Agel could recruit based upon what he did for Tom Brennan at Vermont and this past year we learned that he can recruit great talent to the Ivy League. Score another one for coach Agel and his staff as they have landed Toledo transfer Steve Albrecht who was heading to Cornell until Steve Donahue left for Boston College. Albrecht score 20 points against both Michigan State and Cornell this past season.

-Something tells me that if Tiger Woods had a chance to do it all over again he probably wouldn’t have used the words “bulging disc” to describe what ails him.

-The more the Canadiens win, the more I wonder if we as Bruins fans should be rooting for a Boston/Montreal Eastern Conference Final.

-You’ve heard of the old expression, “the whole is greater than the sum of its parts.” The Red Sox are the antithesis of that.

-JD Drew has been swinging a hot bat and has raised his batting average significantly over the past couple of weeks.

-Meanwhile Big Papi continues to stay below the Mendoza line.

-Let me see if I have this right: the Red Sox could have had both Mark Texiera and Jason Bay and, instead, they have neither. Is that about it?

-Former URI football coach Tim Stowers is the offensive coordinator at Central Connecticut

-Speaking of the Nutmeg state, what took UConn so long to figure out that Jim Calhoun deserved a 5-year contract extension?

-The new Carmelo Anthony Basketball practice facility at Syracuse is state of the art and absolutely amazing. Another example of how the big time programs operate and what makes Providence a difficult job in the Big East.

-The amazing thing about Tom Menino isn’t the mistakes he made on the mic at the Bobby Orr statue ceremony. It’s that the city of Boston keeps electing him mayor!

-Crystal Bowersox is the best singer on American Idol. Whether or not she wins the competition is another story.

-Speaking of primetime TV, does anyone play the game of Survivor better than Russell?

-The talking heads in Boston this week were opining about why Bobby Orr received a statue in front of the TD Garden and not Bill Russell? Did they forget that Bruins owner Jeremy Jacobs owns the Garden and that the Celtics are simply tenants?

-How is it that a team built on “run prevention” ranks 28^th out of 30 teams in Major League Baseball in runs allowed?

-I know that the Knicks and Celtics compete in the same division so I probably shouldn’t root for LeBron to sign with New York this offseason. But you have to admit that the NBA would be more interesting if the Knicks were a force as opposed to the Cleveland Cavaliers.

-Oakland’s Dallas Braden pitching a perfect game a week after his confrontation with A-Rod is something that could only happen to the mercurial Yankee slugger.

-I have a feeling that a lot of people will be rooting for the Virginia women’s lacrosse team in this year’s NCAA Tournament.

-If Tom Menino thinks that Jason Varitek split the uprights in Super Bowls 36 and 38, who does he think quarterbacked the team? Manny Ramirez?
