As we count down the hours to game 1 of the NBA Finals on Thursday, a tasteless attempt at humor by an LA Times columnist did not go unnoticed.  Ted Green wrote in his blog on Monday of Celtics star Paul Pierce: “By the way, Pierce’s idea of a fun night is going clubbing and getting stabbed.  Good times!”  The reference, of course, to Pierce having been stabbed in a nightclub back in 2000.  I’m not quite sure, but if I had to guess I’d say that Green might want a mulligan for that one.

-In case you’re wondering, the LA Times removed it from their website rather quickly.

-Tom Brady and Randy Moss were seen taking part in the Patriots “voluntary” off season workouts this week.

-The Flyers may have rallied from 3-down to the Bruins in the Eastern Conference semis, but something tells me that they may not be able to pull themselves out of the 0-2 hole they find themselves in to the Chicago Blackhawks in the Stanley Cup Finals.

-I wonder if Ted Green wrote anything in his blog about the sexual assault charges filed against Lakers star Kobe Bryant in 2003 or that the civil suit was settled out of court?  Didn’t think so.

-Am I the only one who laughs when I hear Pau Gasol referred to as a “llama?”

-Joba Chamberlin doesn’t need a pitching coach.  He needs a shrink.

-Roger Federer’s record streak of 23 consecutive Grand Slam semifinals reached was snapped at the French Open this week when he lost in the quarterfinals to Robin Soderling.

-Bring back the old Boston Garden complete with no air conditioning for these June games of the NBA Finals.  You know?  When Red Auerbach would turn on the heat in the Lakers locker room?

-Lester and Buchholz have been outstanding!

-And what got into Big Papi in the Month of May?  He hit .363 with 10 HR’s and 27 RBI.  Hopefully it was just rice and beans.

-Should we be sad or angry that someone who made as much money as former Celtics star Antione Walker has had to file for bankruptcy?

-The hits keep coming for Keno Davis and the PC men’s basketball program with assistant Pat Skerry off to Pittsburgh.  And with the Big Ten hovering over the Big East like a vulture over a dead carcass, you wonder if more is yet to come.

-Word out of LA is that former Rhody star Lamar Odom and his wife Khloe Kardashian are expecting their first child.

-It was a good run for Kiefer Sutherland (aka Jack Bauer) and the series “24” which finally came to an end this spring.

-The Florida Marlins have reached a new low for a professional sports franchise.  They are selling unused ticket to Roy Halladay’s perfect game at face value and telling fans that the tickets sold will count toward the official attendance for that game.  No, I’m not kidding!

-What are the chances of Delonte West still being a Cavalier if LeBron James decides to return to Cleveland?

-Enjoy the next two weeks Celtics fans because one the NBA Finals are over it’s baseball, baseball and more baseball!
