Jonathan Green, Massachusetts high school running phenom, will be running for
Georgetown University in Washington, D.C. this fall on an athletic scholarship. The
St John's of Shrewsbury standout is coming off of a career in which he captured two individual state titles, three First Team All-State selections, a second place finish at the Foot Locker Northeast Regional championships, and 22nd place at the national Foot Locker Cross Country Championships. All of these accomplishments were good enough for Green to be named the 2012-2013 Gatorade Massachusetts Boys Cross Country Runner of the Year. This marks the first time that any runner from St. John's High School has been tabbed with this award.
Green's individual state title came in impressive fashion this year, not only winning his second straight state title, but his time of 13:50.8 broke the Gardner High School course record that was previously set at 14:00. This feat of besting the previous record by over nine seconds seems to be one that won't be broken for quite some time.
Green has given himself a good opportunity to succeed in college, maintaining honor roll grades in high school to go along with his certain athletic ability.
