Thomas Scores 33 Points But Celtics Lose Game 1 to Bulls 106-102

The Celtics have now lost home court advantage and will need to win at least one game on the road to win the series.
Thomas’ points came on 10 of 18 shooting from the field in 38 minutes of action.
Prior to Thomas taking the floor at the start of the game, it was unclear if he would play.
Bulls Take Over in 4th
Thomas knocked down three straight free throws to give the Celtics an 88-87 lead with 5:33 left to play in the fourth quarter before the Bulls grabbed control of the game.
Chicago would score the next eight points capped off by three Jimmy Butler free throws to take a 95-88 lead with 4 minutes left in the game.
Boston would get back within four, 95-91, before the Bulls would extend their lead to 101-92 with 1:17 to play following a jumper by Bobby Portis.
The Celtics would rally, as Thomas would score five straight points beginning with a three with 14 seconds left to play to cut Chicago’s lead to 104-100.
Thomas would then get a layup with seven seconds left to cut the Bulls lead to two, 104-102.
However, Butler would seal the game at the free throw line, knocking down two free throws to give the Bulls a 106-102 game one victory.

Game 2 is set for Tuesday night at the TD Garden.
Tip-off is set for 8 p.m.
