New England's Juan Agudelo gave the Revolution a 1-0 lead eleven minutes in after beating two defenders.
However, Sporting KC would scored three goals in fourteen minutes to go up 3-1 at the half.
Krisztian Nemeth added another goal, his second of he game, in the 46th minute to put KC up 4-1 in the match.
They would hold on to win 4-2.
The Revolution return to action on Saturday when they host D.C. United at 7:30 p.m. at Gillette Stadium.
