Who is the Best Athlete from Ashburnham-Charlton

Ayer's Jamie Morris will go down as one of the best running backs in college football history.

GoLocalWorcester's list of the best athletes will be moving through every town in Central Mass alphabetically this week, and we begin with Ashburnham-Charlton. While we are telling you who the top star is in each town, we want to know your opinion; Who is the best overall from Ashburnham-Charlton?

Erika Lawler is certainly an intriguing choice. Standing only 4-foot-11, Lawler overcame a lack of height to lead the University of Wisconsin to three national championships, and the U.S. to multiple medals in international play. Another fantastic athlete that you may not know from the area is Ayer's Jamie Morris. The talented halfback went on to star at the University of Michigan, becoming Big Blue's all-time leader in all-purpose yardage. Injuries derailed Morris' pro career, but he will go down as one of the college game's all-time greats.

Other fine choices would be Bill Ezinicki, a real life version of Happy Gilmore who won three Stanley Cups and played pro golf, or legendary high school baseball coach Neil Greenwald, who amassed 313 wins in his Hall of Fame career.

There isn't a bad choice in the bunch, so let your voice be heard. Who is the best athlete from day one of our list?
