Worcester’s Tim Collins Undergoes Tommy John Surgery, Will Miss 2015 Season

Friday, March 13, 2015

Kansas City Royals relief pitcher and Worcester native Tim Collins will miss the 2015 Major League Baseball season following Tommy John surgery.

According to a tweet from Kansas City Star reporter Andy McCullough, Collins had Tommy John surgery on Wednesday.

Last week, Collins was pulled from his Spring Training debut.  An MRI revealed that Collins had ulnar collateral ligament damage.

As GoLocal Worcester reported, Collins did get a second opinion earlier this week from Dr. James Andrews.

Collins recently signed a 1-year deal with the Royals for $1.48 million. He is arbitration eligible in 2016 and becomes a free agent in 2018.
