Message In A Bottle
Give your sweetheart a love letter this Valentines Day, and make it look as if it came straight from the sea by buying a vintage bottle. This is a great gift for men and woman. Message in A Bottle by Nicholas Sparks created a new infatuation with the idea of a message in a bottle. However, did you know that the idea dates back to 310 BC and began as part of an experiment to see if the Mediterrean Sea was formed by the inflowing Atlantic Ocean? Pretty cool!
Tip: Write a series of love letters for the 13 days leading up to 14th. Hide them in special spots that only your valentine would find. (For a craftier spin, check out this Message In A Bottle project on flax & twine.)
Shop: Pick-up a vintage bottle at your local antique store or shop ebay.
A memory jar is a great way to remember the “little things” throughout the year. If you’re saying “what the heck is a memory jar?” then you probably have never been on pinterest.com. The idea of the memory jar is to write down your memories throughout a year and open them a year later. Going through your memories together will be a gift all of its own. I loved this idea so much, that I made my own for my valentine last year.
Want to make your own? Check out how to, right here.
Skip buying a Hallmark card this year and make your own. This project is going to force you to dig deep and pull out your arts & crafts capabilities. Even if you’re not great at working the scissors and glue, your thoughtfulness and love will be shining through. Grab some friends, a glass of wine and make a night of this project. At least if your card doesn't come out well, you will have a fun memory to look back on!
Here are some ideas to get you thinking
For Her Only - Vintage Clutch
If getting crafty is not your forte, buy her a work of art. A vintage clutch is classic and chic, and will never go out of style. Most vintage purses are one-of-a-kind, making the gift even more special. Head to your local vintage shop to find the perfect vintage clutch for your lady.
For Him Only - Vintage Cigar Box
Most men, not all, enjoy a nice cigar paired with a glass of scotch. So, why not put together a box of fun for him this Valentines Day? Pick-out his favorite type of cigar and favorite type of alcohol and pair it with a sweet note and presto, you have a imaginative gift for your man.
