Message: From GoLocalWorcester by Leonardo Angiulo, GoLocalWorcester Legal Contributor: On August 29 the National Football League announced that it had reached a settlement in Federal Court with past players who suffer from traumatic brain injuries as a result of their time in the league. The choice to settle in this case can tell us a lot about why a majority of lawsuits never go to trial. While the eligible former players and their families may not be getting the kind of money that new NFL contracts command they are getting something in compensation for their life changing injuries. And the League itself gets something too: they get to keep their internal records private, they avoid maybe years of noisy litigation and ultimately avoid the kind of blockbuster verdicts that bankrupt businesses. http://www.golocalworcester.com/news/leonardo-angiulo-who-wins-in-the-nfl-concussion-settlement
