NEW: Three Central Mass Reps. Receive Healthy Communities Award

Monday, September 09, 2013

Senator Michael O. Moore

Senator Michael O. Moore (D-Millbury), Representatives John Mahoney (D-Worcester) and James O’Day (D-West Boylston) each received the Healthy Communities Award from the Family Healthy Center of Worcester, Inc., today. The award honors and recognizes public officials who have lead efforts to support health centers and have contributed to the overall health of the Commonwealth. The award ceremony took place at the center’s primary location at 26 Queen Street in Worcester.

“I am truly honored and touched to be recognized by the Family Health Center of Worcester and to be named a recipient of the 2013 Healthy Communities Award,” said Senator Moore. “It is essential that individuals and families have access to quality and comprehensive health care. Regardless of age and financial means, quality health services are not a luxury, but a necessity. I look forward to continuing to work with the Family Health Center to further promote healthy communities and healthy living.”

“Massachusetts is the national leader in health care accessibility in large part because of organizations like Family Health Center of Worcester. They serve as a vital resource for vulnerable populations and help countless people in our city access the care they need. I am honored to receive the 2013 Healthy Communities Award and I am eager to continue our work together as we fight to make sure that everyone in the Commonwealth has access to affordable, high-quality health care,” Representative Mahoney stated.

“Throughout my tenure as state Representative, I have worked closely with community health centers across the state, most notably Family Health Center, to ensure access to quality and affordable health care for all,” Representative O’Day said. “I am grateful that the Family Health Center is woven so deeply into the fabric of the Worcester community and honored to have worked with them to ensure the continuity of their residency programs as well as their healthy community outreach initiatives. I am humbled to have received this award and will continue to act as a strong advocate for the Family Health Center and its priorities.”
