Don’t Miss: The Many Flavors of Fitchburg October 3rd

Wednesday, October 02, 2013

Fitchburg will celebrate its local heritage in delicious and fun ways on Thursday, October 3rd, at The Many Flavors of Fitchburg, a fundraiser to benefit the Cleghorn Neighborhood Center and Cleghorn Youth Center, programs of the United Neighbors of Fitchburg.

The celebration is sponsored by Fitchburg State University.

Attendees will get to sample food of many cultures and nations prepared by local restaurants and residents, as well as enjoy internationally-themed performances by actors, dancers, and singers.

Cleghorn Neighborhood Center

Founded in 1968 with a mission of building strong neighborhoods in Fitchburg, the Cleghorn Neighborhood Center’s (CNC) emphasizes the Cleghorn neighborhood and also seeks to strengthen the Latino and Latino immigrant community in Fitchburg.

The CNC is seen as the leader for many Latino families in the city, who come to the center for information, services and programs. As part of a three-year strategic plan, the CNC hopes to create opportunities for disenfranchised young people and adults, primarily Latino and low-income, to organize solutions to the health and education issues that their families and the neighborhood are facing.

The CNC has identified four goals for the future:

  • Building leadership and advocacy capacity among residents;
  • Enhancing community development and community building in collaboration with other Fitchburg institutions;
  • Building a strong and diverse Fitchburg by enhancing the capacities of the Latino and immigrant community and helping to establish a respected role for them in the Fitchburg community;
  • Community services that build the capacity of all local residents.

To learn more about the Cleghorn Neighborhood Center and enjoy fun, food and music, don't miss this special fundraiser.

Thursday October 3rd. Fitchburg State University’s newly renovated Hammond Lounge. Fitchburg State students/staff: 4-5pm, $5. General Public: 5-7pm, $15.
