NEW: Celebrate Mardi Gras Tonight in the Canal District

Tuesday, February 12, 2013

Worcester's Canal District will be transformed into Bourbon Street this evening when the Canal District Alliance and the Canal District Business Association team up for "Carnaval de Canal," a Mardi Gras celebration.

Festivities will kick off at 6:00 p.m. and continue until the close of business, featuring New Orleans food favorites, entertainment, promotional giveaways, mardi gras wearable’s, drink specials and tastings, free horse-drawn wagon rides throughout the district, a chance to win a trip to a Mardi Gras celebration in Burlington, Vermont from sponsor Magic Hat.

“The Canal District has seen substantial rebirth as an entertainment district populated with a variety of bars, restaurants and clubs, as well as retail establishments,” said John Giangregorio, President of the Canal District Alliance and the Canal District Business Association. “Come on down and join the celebration in one of the city's most actively developing neighborhoods.”

Free shuttle service from Clark University, Worcester State and Holy Cross will be available throughout the evening starting at 9:00 p.m.

Participating venues include The Banner Bar & Grille, Blackstone Tap, The Canal Bar & Grille, The Greyhound Pub, Hotel Vernon, The Lucky Dog, Smokestack Urban Barbecue, Three G's Sportsbar and others.
