Stephen Roach, an acclaimed economist and financial analyst, will speak in Clark’s Razzo Hall, located in the Traina Center for the Arts on Thursday, April 12th. The lecture is entitled “The Changing Financial Climate in Asia: China’s Growing Role in the World,” and is scheduled to begin at 7:30 pm.
The discussion will center around Roach’s extensive research on a broad range of topics including globalization, the emergence of China, productivity and the macro paybacks of information technology. His opinions have been known to shape policy from Beijing to Washington DC.
Roach retired from Morgan Stanley last month, most recently as the Non-Executive Chairman of Morgan Stanley Asia. Roach has written primarily on Asia’s economic imbalances and the dangers of the region’s dependences on Western consumers. He has also served on the research staff of the Federal Reserve Board.
Roach is also a Senior Fellow and Senior Lecturer for the Jackson Institute and Yale University School of Management. He has been in several senior positions at Morgan Stanley over the past 30 years, and has written several books on economics. His latest, “The Next Asia: Opportunities and Challenges for a New Globalization,” was named book of the year by CBN- China’s equivalent of The Wall Street Journal.
