NEW: Central MA Unemployment Rate 7.3% in Feb, Above State Avg.

The unemployment rate of the Central Massachusetts Workforce Investment Area (WIA) was 7.3 percent in February, according to seasonally unadjusted employment figures released Tuesday by The Executive Office of Labor and Workforce Development (EOLWD). Central Mass.' rate down 0.3 percent from January, but is 0.5 percent higher than the statewide rate.

Cailyn Canty is a sophomore at Bentley University enrolled in Actuarial Science. The 20-year-old Webster native keeps a busy schedule with her studies, part-time job, internships, and numerous school activities, including Bentley Political Club, Bentley Math Club, Certified Bentley Leadership Program, and the Campus Activities Board. She has also passed her first actuarial science exam, which required over 300 hours of study enabling her to be an actuarial intern at Fidelity Investments this summer. Active in community service, Canty is a member of Circle K International Community Service Club and has done volunteer work with Webster Food Share as well as Recover, Repair, Rebuild.
