GoLocal Lacrosse Coaches Poll: Another Big Win for Tyngsborough

Monday, May 21, 2012

Tyngsborough and goalie Peter Latulippe are the only remaining unbeaten in the region.

It was a statement week for both Algonquin and Tyngsborough. The Tomahawks showed why they are still the team to beat in Central Mass with a convincing 13-6 win over power St. John’s on Saturday. The day prior, Tyngsborough was given everything it could handle by Oakmont, but the Tigers showed poise and won their first “close” game in over a month, beating the Spartans 12-10.

So, heading into the last week of the regular season, where do our coaches rank these four teams, along with a red-hot Grafton squad that has just completed its season? Find out below.

1. Algonquin (15-1)

2. Tyngsborough (16-0)

3. Grafton (18-2)

4. St. John’s (13-4)

5. Shrewsbury (9-8)

Algonquin and junior Davis Kraft have shown they can win games a variety of ways this season.

In the Hunt: Oakmont (13-3), Westborough (9-7)

Game of the Week: Oakmont at Milford- Wednesday, May 23rd

Oakmont nearly handed Tyngsborough its first loss of the season, and the Spartans have been playing as well as anyone in the region lately. Milford will present an interesting challenge for Oakmont, as the Hawks fight for their postseason lives.

Also Keep an Eye On: Westborough at Algonquin- Wednesday, May 23rd

The Rangers have a chance to score their biggest win of the season Wednesday, but beating Algonquin will be a tall order. With the Tomahawks’ win over St. John’s, their confidence has to be as high as ever.

This Week's Poll Participants

Terry Leary, St. John's, Rich Luongo, Algonquin, Dave Dague, Milford, Steve Falconer, Northbridge
