NEW: Hernandez Involved In Run-Ins With Providence Police

Thursday, June 20, 2013

New England Patriots' tight end Aaron Hernandez may be looking at a world of trouble in Massachusetts right now, but he is no stranger to the law in Rhode Island either. The athlete was involved in two incidents outside Providence nightclubs in the last month, GoLocal has confirmed via Providence Police.

While leaving Viva Nightclub on Thayer Street on May 23rd, Hernandez found himself being heckled by a rowdy Jets fan. The man taunted Hernandez for three blocks before police were called to the scene to prevent an altercation. The police helped him leave and detained some of the provocateurs.

Meanwhile, a gun was tossed away under a car by someone other than Hernandez. Police recovered the weapon and confirmed that it was a Jimenez .22 caliber gun.

Another run-in took place on June 6 at Karma Nightclub, but police remained tight-lipped about the nature of the incident.

But Hernandez is finding himself in a much more dire situation these days–multiple sources have indicated that an arrest is imminent for his involvement in the shooting death of 27-year-old Odin Lloyd on Monday. Lloyd's body was discovered near Hernandez's North Attleboro, MA home by a jogger Tuesday, and police have been investigating with thorough searches of the area and of his home. Additionally, Hernandez faces another huge legal problem through the reports of a civil lawsuit being filed over a February shooting that caused a victim to lose sight in one eye.
