Weekend Fun with the Worcester Tornadoes

Friday, June 22, 2012

The Worcester Tornadoes will host a series of family (and dog) friendly promotions this weekend during their series at home against the Newark Bears.

The weekend kicks off on Friday, when there will be the usual Friday homestand post-game fireworks display, win or lose.

Saturday is sure to be super fun, with Superhero Night.  Fans are encouraged to show up dressed as their favorite superhero. There will be a number of universally beloved and recognized comic heroes already in attendance including, Batman, Spiderman, Iron Man, and Wonder Woman.

Get your favorite superhero fan an autograph, take a picture, or just let the kids meet their favorite hero.  Special goodies including cowbells will be given away to fans. The games on both Friday and Saturday begin at 7:05 pm.

But, since the weekend isn't over, the fun doesn’t end either.  On Sunday June 24th, for the fourth time and first time in 2012, the team will be sponsoring Bark in the Park. Fans are allowed to bring their pet pooch to the game. It will cost $3 for each dog to enter on top of the ticket price but all proceeds will go to the Worcester Animal Rescue League. In addition, as is true with every Sunday, kids eat for free for Tykes Club/ Family Fun Day, and an autograph session is scheduled for after the game.  First pitch is at 4:05 pm but the gates open at 3.

It has been a struggle for the Tornadoes this season. They are currently in last place in the Can-Am league with a record of 11-21, a full 10 games behind the first place Quebec Capitales.

But despite the struggles, and the fact that former major league star Jose Canseco is now on the disabled list, the Tornadoes organization is still committed to providing fun and affordable family entertainment to its fans. The team is sponsoring a number of other promotions this summer including Scout Night, Irish Night, Country Western Night, and Movie Night, and there are also various daily promotions.
