One of my favorite makeup items of all time is (drumroll please)…lip gloss! So many fun colors to choose from and varied finishes make this a versatile product…let’s see what we found.

Default

No one does gloss quite like Christian Dior so Addict Ultra Gloss is aptly named. With an array of gorgeous colors to choose from, this gloss plumps and shines like no other. Available at Sephora and Nordstrom, $26.50.

Decadent

Soft lips with a delicious finish is promised in every tube of Fresh Sugar Lip Gloss. Sugar scented and packed with beneficial ingredients like grape seed oil, shea butter and jojoba oil, this never-sticky gloss is an inspired indulgence. Available at Facing Thayer, $18.

Delightful

An easy favorite is Maybelline’s Shine Sensational Lip Gloss. It glides on effortlessly and makes lips super shiny. Pick up every color and never go without again! Available at drug stores, $7.

Demure

If you are looking for just a hint of color and shine, try Burt's Bees Lip Gloss Tubes. These all-natural glosses give you just a pinch of color and hydrate for a naturally plump lip. Available at Whole Foods, $7.

Gloss Guidance

Base: Apply concealer or lip base to your lips prior to applying gloss. This will allow your gloss to have something to cling to and therefore have it stay on longer.

Blot: Blotting is a surefire way to be sure you are not overglossed (you know who I’m talking about). Use blotting paper or a Post-It (tissue will stick to gloss and then you’ll have tissue lips!) to blot and trot!

Banish: Lip glosses should be thrown away every six months or so. Bacteria builds up and it can be very unsanitary. Also, NEVER share lip gloss with family or friends using the applicator…instead, dab the applicator onto a paper or palette and then your friend can use a brush or their own finger to apply.
