Rhode Island's Betaspring has been selected as a member of the TechStars Network, the leading startup accelerator program in the United States. Specifically, TechStars Network is an alliance of independently owned and operated startup accelerator programs from dozens of cities across the United States and around the world. The program is a key element in President Obama's The StartUP America Partnership. As President Obama recently said, "Our future prosperity in part depends on whether or not we are creating an environment in which folks can test new ideas, bring new products to market, and generate new businesses. And that’s not just a challenge for government. It’s a challenge that requires businesses, and leaders, and universities, [and] others to seek out new ways to promote entrepreneurship across this country.”
The aim of the TechStars Network is to increase the success rate and sustainability of innovative technology startups and to ultimately create 25,000 new economy jobs by 2015.
