The merger of the Society of Professional Communicators (SPC) and the Ad Club of Greater Worcester culminated this week with the launch of The Communicators Club.

The new group was officially launched during a meeting at Assumption College Tuesday night. The Communicators Club comes in response to the shifting business landscape and fast-track marketing communications industry needs.

The brand makeover for the Worcester-area communication group is intended to reflect the organization’s focus on providing passionate, professional communicators a way to exchange resources and creative ideas. smith&jones was the agency behind the rebranding, which was done under the Createathon effort. The board of the newly formed group has worked to expand its vision to include the interests and aspirations of the regional professional community that incorporates career communicators with diverse skills.

Professions such as multimedia designers, producers, advertisers, marketers and public relations professionals will all be welcome in the group, and President Cindy Wright believes the rebranding shows where the it is headed.

“Our new name and new look reflect the personality of the organization and the type of group we want to become,” Wright said. “We’ve drawn on incredibly rich experiences of two industries that now intersect throughout business and nonprofit marketing communications.”

The Communicators Club’s new website was designed by board member Jim Casey of Casey Design, and built by board member Amy Kotsopoulos with Judy Vedder, both of Arukor Communications. They also produced additional digital and print assets to support the launch, while Michael Dorsey of Worcester Polytechnic Institute (WPI) coordinated social media and email announcements.

Wright hopes the board’s excitement for the merger will spread to other industry professionals.

“By launching The Communicators Club during our annual meeting, we sought to capture the sense of excitement we’ve all been feeling since the merger,” Wright said. “It reflects the spirit of the creative, forward-looking professionals working to build business in Central Massachusetts… We’re excited about our new identity and look, and about the fresh opportunities to help communications pros throughout Central Massachusetts share, collaborate and grow.”
