Ask A Bartender: What Drinks Can We Look Forward to this Spring?
Saturday, March 14, 2015
First, these drinks are going to make you smile and cheer since they are appropriate in both Spring and Summer. I decided on the following drinks for two reasons - simplicity and taste. So whether you want to order them at your favorite "watering hole" or grab some ingredients to bring home for a nice cocktail, these will do the trick.
First up, lets go with a new recent favorite Sangria (White or Red). It seems much more popular with women but its definetly a drink that is colorful - tasty - and simple. Some restaurants attempt to mix up Sangria and let it ferment a bit. But most places usually have them made to order which provides a surprise and variety for customers since every place seems to make them different. Orange Juice, Lime Juice, Triple Sec, Chardonnay or Pinto Grigio, along with Soda Water - and couple of dashes of suger (mix). Than garnish with a Orange & Lemon slice!
Third, since our relations are thawing (along with all the snow) with Cuba lets introduce a Cuban favorite with another great spirit, Rum. This is called the Presidente. You will need Dark Rum, Blue Curacao, Pineapple or Orange Juice, White Vermouth, and dash of Grenadine.
There you have it. Three nice, fun, tasty, simple drinks you can enjoy as Spring finally breaks here. Cheers!
