Dishing with Dale: Leominster’s 435 Bar & Grille

Friday, July 29, 2016

435 Is your lucky number! The 435 Bar + Grille in Leominster, that is.

I love seeing an old factory building getting a second chance, actually I like seeing anything older than me.

The first thing you notice walking into 435 Bar + Grille, is the care and thought they gave into preserving that old world feel, from the brick work, open ceiling and beams, tot he warmly restored old hard wood floors. They succeeded in giving the venue an updated industrial feel. If you’re looking for overstuffed chairs, linen table cloths and cozy, this is not that.

The Experience

This particular day we were eating lunch, I was dining with the one and only beauty queen and fashionista herself, Mom LePage, and were joined by her gentleman caller, let’s call him Handsome Ray.

We were greeted by our waitress Alana, who brought us the wine and beer menu (a hefty 4 page volume with an abundance of choices). However, since it was lunch, we opted out of the cocktails. We were handed menus, and as our eyes darted around the room watching waitresses delivering food to other diners, we were very excited by the smells and presentation. Getting up, then practically sticking my face in a stranger's plate, I decided I’ll have what she’s having.

The Lunch

So I got the 435 Meatloaf wrapped in Applewood smoked bacon with whipped garlic mashed potatoes with savory mushroom gravy, accompanied by grilled fresh vegetables -- only $14.

The dashing Mr. Raymond decided on the Salmon BLT grilled salmon apple bacon, lettuce, tomato, garlic aioli (look it up I had too ☺ ) on sourdough bread only $12

Mom did what mom does best and went off script asking for alterations to the grilled salmon BLT dish and they were very accommodating and gracious.

The lemon cake! See, I shared!

We started out with a spinach artichoke flatbread with shaved bacon & shaved parmesan on naan ($9). That and Buffalo chicken flatbread with spinach, blue cheese and mozzarella on naan (yeah I had to look that up too -- $9) were the perfect starters. Our meals came out together (timing is everything) we dug in and…

BAM! HOLY DELICIOSO BATMAN!

Even though we were completely stuffed from the ample portions I insisted we try at least 1 desert, after all it’s my job (insert wink here) we decided on the lemon cake with dense whipped cream plump raspberries decorated with lemon zest. There was no evidence of a cake being delivered after 12 seconds. (Yes I shared!)

The entire experience was wonderful, from the tasty food of chef Stefano Ziemi the service of Alana and desserts. If you decide to take a trip out to 435 Bar & Grille, it's at 435 Lancaster Street in Leominster.

Bear in mind they have an expansive bar area as well at the restaurant side and are supplied by local farms and there homemade pasta is also made locally   There truly is something for everyone!
