Bradley Hospital Announces Parenting Matters Conference

Tuesday, February 15, 2011

Bradley Hospital in East Providence, the nation’s first psychiatric hospital for children, is gearing up for its 21st annual Parenting Matters conference, a half-day event offering parents, childcare providers and teachers a unique opportunity to learn from top child development and behavior professionals in a casual setting.

Addressing Modern Day Challenges

Internationally renowned parenting and Attention Deficit Disorder expert Thomas Phelan, Ph.D., is the conference’s keynote speaker. Phelan, the author of the best-selling 1-2-3 Magic Parenting Program, will present “Parenting Solutions for Dealing with Difficult Behavior in Toddlers, Children and Teens.” The father of an ADD child, Phelan has also served on the boards of directors for two national organizations for parents of children with ADD, and authors a blog with tips and advice on the subject.

Workshops throughout the event, including “Sibling Rivalry,” “Bullying in School and Online,” “Ready for Kindergarten,” and “Helping Overweight Children and Teens Manage Their Weight,” have been designed to help parents deal with 21st century challenges.
