5 Weekend Musts: Red Nose Run & More

Run with the Clowns at the Red Nose Run, Providence.
Saturday
It's Barnum & Bailey goes to Pamplona, and it's for a good cause. Lace up your oversized shoes, pull on a red nose, and join in on this 5k fundraising run/walk and kids fun run to benefit Goodwill Industries of RI. The Ringling Bros. clowns are on hand to charge up (or terrify) the crowd... maybe you'll run faster knowing a clown's behind you.
Registration begins at 8:30am, races follow. Roger Williams Park Carousel, Providence. Donate $5 for kids 10 and under to participate, $10 for adults. 100% of proceeds benefit Goodwill.
Bring your BFFs to the Southern New England Women's Expo, Twin River Event Center, Lincoln.
Sunday
It's all about the ladies, and it's an all-day affair. From beauty and cooking seminars to fashion tips, health talks, and giveaways, there's more here than even the most consummate multi-tasking woman can soak up. Run here in heels.
11am-5pm, Twin River Event Center, 100 Twin River Rd, Lincoln. Free parking. Tickets $18 at the door, pre-register for a $8 off or 2 for 1 pass, here. First 300 attendees score a free giftbag.
Friday through Sunday
If you haven't seen this thought-provoking look at the conversion of Saul of Tarsus, there's one more weekend. With top-rate performances (especially from Alexander Platt in the title role) and crisp, dynamic direction, it's great theater for all ages... and persuasions.

Now that it's warming up, you really need one of these outdoor events every weekend, don't you? This is a great one. Follow Audubon naturalist Laura Carberry for a one-mile walk out to the largest seal haul-out in the state (and yes, that means a one-mile walk back). 1-3pm, John H. Chafee Nature Preserve, Boston Neck Road (Route 1). $8-$4 per member; $12-$6 per non-member. Pre-registration required. New England author William Lychack has sprinkled sneaky Rhode Island and Connecticut references in his spare, beautiful collection of short stories, The Architect of Flowers, which has been selected for the Barnes & Noble Discover Great New Writers Summer Season. He's in town to read at one of the best independent bookstores around. Don't miss it. 2pm, Books on the Square, 471 Angell St, Providence, 331-9097.
