While summer is still here, our minds are slowly adjusting to the ultimate shopping season: back to school! New clothes, shoes, backpacks, school supplies and of course, beauty products are on the list. Check out what we found for heading back to school in style.
Clean Up Your Act
Gone are the days when you had to use your mother’s skincare! Teens and coeds have products designed specifically for their ever-changing skin and Murad’s Clean Scene collection is a goldmine.
Packed with delicious Yumberry (yes it is really called that!), the products are antioxidant rich to keep your skin looking and feeling fresh (plus it smells soooooooooooo good)! The line includes Down for Defense SPF 15 Moisturizer, Begging for Balance Oil-Free Moisturizer, Crazy for Clear Spot Treatment, Gaga for Glow Gentle Facial Scrub and Craving for Clean Foaming Cleanser ($16-$24,
The Apothecary Newport, 324-6253, 6 Broadway, Newport).
Makeup Test
Girls are wearing makeup at younger ages these days and while we do not want them racing to be adults, there is makeup out there that is age appropriate, fun and good for the skin. Ava Anderson Non-Toxic (the brand
we covered in July) offers makeup options for tweens, teens and adults. Being a teen herself, Ava designed mineral foundations and blushes ($18.95-$36.50) that absorb toxins and protect the skin, letting true beauty shine through and let girls be themselves.
Hair Today, Gorgeous Tomorrow
Back to school means get up and go time so there is no need to get fussy with your hair. No time to wash in the morning? No worries! Try dry shampoos that sop up oil and make you and your hair look and feel fresh. We love Bumble & bumble’s Hair Powders to keep our hair looking fierce. The
powders come in white, blondish, brown and black so no one will know your secret. Bumble and bumble products are available at
Coiffurium (800 Hope St, Providence, 331-1115).
Smell Yes
Overpowering scents will not do much to impress classmates or roommates so tread lightly and still smell sweet. One of our favorites is Thierry Mugler’s Innocent, which has hints of candied fruits and delectable whimsy ($48-$75, available at Nordstrom in Providence Place Mall). It is a light and airy fragrance that lasts a long time so one spritz is all you need!
Now you have your beauty supplies for back to school shopping!
