GETTING OUT: Central Mass New Year’s Parties

Thursday, December 27, 2012

The best party day of the year is here again. Plenty of places in the Worcester area are bringing in the New Year with a food, music, dancing and alcohol-filled bang. Here are just a few.

Lucky Dog Music Hall
89 Green Street, Worcester
Ring in the New Year with a rambunctious music-filled extravaganza at the famous Lucky Dog Music Hall. Worcester's favorite 80's cover band Flock of A**Holes will be performing in the way only they know how. There will be a $10 dollar champagne toast at midnight and plenty of surprises. Also check out some fun over the weekend and pre-game before New Year's with performances from 90's party band "How Bizarre" on Sunday, the Hard Drivin' R & B on Saturday and The Shop on Friday.

Ralph's Rock Diner
148 Grove Street, Worcester
There are plenty of different festivities going on at Ralph's 3rd annual Free admission New Year's Eve Bash. The night begins with an award-winning local free-style poetry, spoken word, and improv music performance by the Dirty Gerund. There will also be plenty of games, food (especially bacon) prizes, and give-aways. Starting at 10 pm until the end of the night there will be the Dump 'em Out Productions Drunken Karaoke Jam featuring singing, dancing, balloon droppings, shots and more bacon.

Nick's Bar and Restaurant
124 Millbury Street, Worcester
Nick's will be having its Red Carpet Classic Hollywood New Year's Eve Party on the 31st. It will feature photos and paparazzi, music and dancing under the stars. Their very own ball will drop on the patio at midnight. There will be music by Swingabilly Lounge, and Driftin' Sam and Betsy earlier on from 7- 9 pm. Enjoy great food and drinks, and as always a great atmosphere. One can of course enjoy live entertainment every night.

Ceres Bistro
363 Plantation Street, Worcester
If one wants a quieter, fancier (and perhaps more romantic) way to bring the New Year than some other places listed her can offer, Ceres Bistro at the Beechwood Hotel may be perfect for you. Enjoy a delicious four-course meal and live music from the Brian Samson Quartet. Afterwards, take advantage of a special New Year's Eve room package with a glass of champagne, and next morning enjoy a New Year's Day brunch.

First Night Worcester
Downtown Worcester
First Night Worcester is a name for a collection of festivities going on in Downtown Worcester ringing in the New Year by celebrating the cities vibrant artistic culture. It includes a public skate and a skating show at the Worcester Common Oval, live music inside a heated tent at City Hall Plaza, and plenty more family-friendly activities and entertainment. It also includes two laser shows, fireworks, and a performance from magician poet Paul Szlosek.

433 Park Avenue, Worcester
Beatnik's is open special on Monday and will have performances by the William Thompson Funk Experiment beginning at 9:30 and Danny Pease and the Regulators beginning right at midnight. Food, appetizers and drinks will be served throughout the night topped off with, of course, a toast at midnight.
