Saturday, September 11, 2010

Today, the country pauses to remember the tragic events that unfolded at the World Trade Center in New York and the Pentagon in Arlington, Va., on September 11, 2001. President Barack Obama will deliver remarks at the Pentagon Memorial Site at 9:30am.

Governor Donald L. Carcieri and First Lady Suzanne Carcieri will be joined by families who lost loved ones on 9-11 at a remembrance ceremony at 10am in the Bell Area of the State House.

Yesterday, the United States Naval War College (NWC) in Newport held a memorial ceremony on to honor those persons lost at the Pentagon during the terrorist attacks, highlighting the three NWC students and seven alumni who perished in the attack. As each name was announced, a bell was rung in each person’s memory. Later during the ceremony, the honor guard placed a wreath at the War College’s 9-11 Memorial.
