NEW: DJ Pauly D Gets Hit With $4 Million Lawsuit

Wednesday, July 13, 2011

Rhode Island's DJ Pauly D just got a little more notorious.

A Connecticut DJ is suing the Jersey Shore star for $4 million, claiming that his business has been ruined by comparisons to the MTV star.

Paul Lis of South Windsor, CT, claims to have spent four decades building a reputation as "DJ Paulie," before DelVecchio began calling himself "DJ Pauly D" on television.

"He formally trademarked the name 'DJ Paulie' and then came the Jersey Shore, which basically wiped him off the face of the map," attorney Jose M. Rojas told the New York Post's NewsCore.

The lawsuit, filed in US District Court in Hartford, asks for $4 million from MTV, Pauly D, and a list of his other employers, including The Palms Las Vegas, where he works as a paid DJ.

"The reality television show [follows] a group of young adults pursuing a debauched lifestyle suggestive of loose morals, violence, intoxication and liberal profanity -- the exact opposite of the reputation the Plaintiff, 'DJ Paulie' that he had spent decades cultivating," according to the lawsuit.

Meanwhile, Pauly D is in the midst of filming season five of that allegedly debauched lifestyle.
