NEW: TV Pilot to Be Shot in Worcester

Thursday, March 22, 2012

Is it the 1800s again? Some may begin to ask this question, as Union Station, Nick's Bar and Restaurant and other various locations across the state of Massachusetts are being used for the filming of a pilot for a new ABC show entitled “Gilded Lilys.”

“Gilded Lilys” is a drama that follows a scandalous love story involving the Lily family and is set around the opening of New York City's first luxury hotel in 1895. The filming headquarters is based in Boston but has plans to begin filming in other sites around the state, including Union Station and Nick's Bar and Restaurant – which already features fitting décor.

Nick's will be closed Thursday through Saturday to accommodate the shooting, which will take place on Friday.

“Nick's is going to be used as the burlesque bar, separate from the luxury hotel,” Nick's owner Nicole Watson said. “Union Station is being used for exterior shots as the hotel.”

Because the show is currently just a pilot it is unclear whether more shooting will take place in Worcester.

“If ABC picks it up, they may come back. We're not sure yet,” Watson said. “They may just choose to recreate it (Nick's])as a set.”

It was unclear at this time whether the shooting at Union Station would take place on Friday as well, or if it was done today.
