Princeton Review Names MA’s Best Professors

Thursday, April 05, 2012

WPI Professor John Goulet.

A mathematics professor from Worcester Polytechnic Institute has been named one of the country’s top professors in The Best 300 Professors, a new guidebook by the Princeton Review. John Goulet is one of 39 Massachusetts professors to make the list, which was compiled by the Princeton Review with help from RateMyProfessors.com and students and administrators at the various colleges.

This is the first time that Princeton Review has created such a book, which was released on April 3.

“We developed this project as a tribute to the extraordinary dedication of America's undergraduate college professors and the vitally important role they play in our culture, and our democracy,” said Robert Franek, Princeton Review's Senior VP/Publisher and author of the Company's flagship college guide, The Best 376 Colleges. “One cannot page through this book without feeling tremendous respect for the powerful ways these teachers are enriching their students' lives, their colleges, and ultimately our future as a society."

The book contains profiles of each chosen professor and of the schools at which they teach, although neither the schools nor the professors are ranked in it.

Mount Holyoke College not only topped the list of top Massachusetts professors, but with 13 selected professors, the school boasts the highest number of professors on the list of any school in the country. Massachusetts’ representation overall is impressive, with 13% of the professors coming from the state.
