Fan Yang and his bubbles

The World Premiere of the Gazillion Bubble Show at the Providence Performing Arts Center will leave you asking “How did he do that?” all night long. Bubble artist Fan Yang is the most skilled bubble master in the world. He has 17 Guinness World Records under his belt, and it shows in each mind-blowing bubble stunt he performs, delighting adults and children alike.

Fan Yang makes everything look easy. From his bubble within a bubble within a bubble to his square-shaped bubble, every trick is a treat to watch. The kids watching often yelled out “wow!” and “holy cow!” and sometimes it is hard to restrain yourself from exclaiming out loud as well. The music, lights, and videos that supplement the bubbles make it a real show, but don’t distract from the beauty and awe of the bubble mastery.

Goddess of Light

Some of the videos probably read as corny to the adults, but they seem to entertain the children. A part of the show that is not corny at all is his daughter Melody’s segment as the “Goddess of Light.” Using a combination of lighting effects and lasers, she performs an intricate combination of dance and martial arts that is possibly one of the most impressive laser shows I’ve ever seen. It also serves as a nice change of pace from the overload of bubbles.

The Gazillion Bubble Show mixes aspects of the circus, magic, science, and art to form a spectacle that is compelling and exciting. And the boys and girls sitting in the front few rows, dubbed the “Bubble Zone,” will probably never forget the experience of going up on stage and getting put in one of Fan Yang’s giant bubbles. The grand finale, the part that really lives up to the name of Gazillion Bubbles, lets every member of the audience enter a world of bubbles. Just make sure you aren’t wearing any clothing that you wouldn’t want to get a little soapy.

The Gazillion Bubble Show is only playing today and tomorrow, so make sure you get tickets soon. This is a show that you and your family definitely don’t want to miss. It is at the PPAC, 220 Weybosset St in downtown Providence. For more information and to purchase tickets, visit http://www.ppacri.org/events/detail/gazillion_bubble_show or call 421-2787. Fan Yang’s bubbles will make you feel like a dazzled child again that still believes in magic and the wonder available in a little bit of soap and water.
