Shrewsbury resident Caitie Coates will be the only Central Mass resident competing in next week's Miss Massachusetts Scholarship Pageant.

Coates, a 21-year old graduate of Shrewsbury High School and Dean College, will enter the pageant as Miss Southcoast. The pageant will take place at Worcester's Hanover Theatre from Friday the 29th to Saturday the 30th, and will be the 73rd annual Miss Massachusetts Pageant.

The competition will feature 16 young women from across the Commonwealth, each competing for scholarship money and the chance to represent Massachusetts in the Miss America Pageant next January in Las Vegas.
