Worcester’s Third Annual Brew Woo This Saturday

Monday, March 25, 2013

The third annual Brew Woo, Worcester's original craft beer festival, will be held at the DCU Center Saturday, March 30, with two sessions from 2:00 pm to 5:00 pm and 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm in the Convention Center. The popular event will feature breweries with craft beers and local brews, live music, several merchandise vendors and a food court stationed by local eateries.

"Now in its third year, Brew Woo has received acclaim from major press and beer bloggers to sponsors and patrons. With more than 75 different styles of craft beer and micro brews from 30+ breweries- mostly native to New England, live local bands and food from local establishments, Brew Woo marries the culture of Worcester with the growing popularity of the craft beer industry," says Amy Peterson, Director of Marketing for SMG.

In 2011, the producers of the event noticed the fact that there was a void in Central Massachusetts for this type of beer festival, while there were a number of such events in both Western, MA and in Boston, as well as around New England.

"Worcester being New England’s second largest city and home to a diverse population, it seemed natural that the city have a festival of this kind to call its own," Peterson says.

The event, taking place now every year on the Eve of Easter Sunday, has taken off, with many local establishment choosing to take advantage.

Participating Breweries this year will include: Woodstock Inn; Innis & Gunn; Sam Adams; Peak Brewing; Notch; Harpoon; Ipswich; Long Trail; Otter Creek; Tullycross; Wachusett; Wormtown; Sierra Nevada; Magic Hat; Goose Island; Shock Top; Kennebec River; Tenth and Blake; Vermont Hard Cider; John Harvard’s; Backlash Beer; Baxter Brewing; Narragansett; Boulevard; Shipyard, Blue Hills; D.L. Geary; Clown Shoes; Banner; Revival; Trinity; Bay State; and Berkshire; plus sampling by Pepsi and Red Bull.

Participating Eateries will include: Sweet T Southern Kitchen; Vincent’s Pizza/Garden Fresh; Smokestack Urban BBQ; Banner Bar & Grille; Center Bar and Grille; and Uno Chicago Grille.
Participating musicians on The Ranch live music stage will include Erin Ollis and Elle Wine of Bristol Voice and Recording Studios in Worcester, ARIBAND, and Bobby Morin.

"The breweries, restaurants, bands, vendors and sponsors all have one common interest: exposing their brand in an experiential way. Brew Woo affords them the opportunity to sample their product and engage in a dialogue with the patron. It’s all about the experience- both for the patron and the participant," remarks Peterson.

"Whether you’re a patron of the art and innovation of craft brewing, looking to broaden your palate and try some new products or simply looking for a fun social atmosphere, Brew-Woo fits all lifestyles. It’s an affordable afternoon or evening with a group of friends or a date!"

Tickets cost $35.00; $30.00 in advance. The price includes a souvenir glass and unlimited, responsible sampling. Tickets will be available at the DCU Center Box Office, Ticketmaster locations, by phone at 800-745-3000 and online at ticketmaster.com.
