PawSox Party Scheduled for Monday Night in Worcester to Celebrate Approval of the Deal

Thursday, September 13, 2018

With the City of Worcester's rapid-fire approval of the  PawSox funding project by the City Council the effort to build on the momentum is on.

Mayor Joe Petty and City Manager Ed Augustus, Jr. announced that the City of Worcester will host a Worcester Red Sox celebration in conjunction with community partners. The event is scheduled for next Monday.

Questions about the funding structure -- the cost to the public and long-term obligation -- have been muted by the effort to close the deal with PawSox owners.

The celebration effort is to keep the momentum moving forward and will take place on the Worcester Common Oval on Monday, September 17 at 5 p.m. and is open to the general public with appearances by legends of the Boston Red Sox baseball club and players from the Pawtucket Red Sox.

The event will be broadcast live on Charter TV3 (channel 193) and on the City of Worcester Government Channel (channel 192) as well as Unity Radio 102.9 FM.

WHO: Worcester Red Sox Celebration with Lieutenant Governor Karyn Polito, Congressman Jim McGovern, Mayor Joseph M. Petty, City Councilor Candy Mero-Carlson, City Manager Edward M. Augustus Jr., Pawtucket Red Sox Chairman Larry Lucchino and other special guests.

WHAT: Worcester Red Sox Celebration

WHEN: Monday, September 17, 5 p.m.
