President Trump and First Lady Test Positive for Coronavirus

Friday, October 02, 2020

President Donald Trump

President Donald Trump and First Lady Melania Trump have tested positive for the coronavirus.

At approximately 1 AM on Friday morning  President Trump tweeted:

“Tonight, @FLOTUS and I tested positive for COVID-19. We will begin our quarantine and recovery process immediately. We will get through this TOGETHER!”

This comes on the heels of the announcement on Thursday that Trump’s top staffer Hope Hicks had tested positive for the virus.

At about 4 AM the Melanie Trump tweeted, “As too many Americans have done this year, @potus  & I are quarantining at home after testing positive for COVID-19. We are feeling good & I have postponed all upcoming engagements. Please be sure you are staying safe & we will all get through this together.”

First Lady Melania Trump

There is still no official statement by the White House.

Trump's infection coupled with his travel schedule will trigger contact tracing for hundreds of individuals.

Due to the President's age and weight, he is at high risk.
