Legislators Tell What They Won for Central Massachusetts in Budget

Monday, July 08, 2013

This year's budget has some significant wins for Central Massachusetts according to the Representatives and Senators who represent the region.

The 2014 Fiscal Year budget puts more funding into education for K through 12 and held the line on tuition increases for the state's university system.

GOP members of the Central Massachusetts delegation had a few things to say about the tax hikes in the budget.

Top Legislators Weigh In

GoLocalWorcester talked to many of the top legislators in Central Massachusetts and get their take on the wins for the region -- and what they were able to secure.

One GOP legislator told GoLocalWorcester, "...it is predicated on more than half a billion dollars in new taxes, including a gas tax, a cigarette tax, and a tax on the software services industry which is one of the key employers in the Commonwealth."

Read what the top lawmakers have to say.
