NEW: City Hall Rally Set for May Day

Monday, April 30, 2012

Worcester organizations and labor groups will rally in front of City Hall Tuesday, May 1 at 4:30 p.m. in an effort to convince the city to address new priorities. Speakers will address the crows at 4:45 p.m.

The organizing committee for the rally, pointing out that May Day is celebrated across the globe as International Workers' and Immigrants' Day, said in a press release, “We stand in multi-racial and international unity with our black, brown and white brothers and sisters.”

The committee wants the city to prioritize the support of a new Responsible Employer Ordinance to help ensure economic development that benefits all Worcester residents; a city council vote in support of a resolution to invest in our communities; and the recognition of ongoing local, regional and national efforts to build workplace democracy.
