NEW: Worcester Celebrates Newton Square Memorial Restoration

On July 18 the City of Worcester held a ceremony of restoration of the Newton Square Memorial. The 3pm ceremony gathered volunteers, veterans, and elected officials to pay tribute.
The monument was built to pay tribute to the citizens who lost their lives in World War II. The granite structure and plaque were completely restored in a manner “befitting of our care and commitment for our Veterans, our parks and our community."
Worcester Mayor Petty + other officials
Worcester Mayor Joseph Petty emceed the event, introducing a set of esteemed speakers: City Manager MIchael V. O’Brien, State Representative John J. Mahoney, City Councilor Tony J. Economou, Robert L. Moylan, Jr. Commissioner of Public Works and Parks, and special guest John E. McAuliffe (Army, 34th Regiment and 87th Infantry Division WWII & Korea).
