NEW: Worcester Youth Center Names New Executive Director

Tuesday, May 15, 2012

New Executive Director Samuel N. Martin

The Worcester Youth Center’s (WYC) Board of Trustees has selected a new Executive Director.

Samuel N. Martin of Brockton will take over as Executive Director today, and brings nearly 20 years of experience in human services. The WYC believes that Martin’s experience working with youths in underserved communities make him an ideal fit.

“Sam’s background in human services and his passion for our mission make him the perfect choice to be our new Executive Director,” Laurie Ross, President of the WYC’s Board of Trustees said. “His enthusiasm for improving the lives of the young people we serve is contagious. Having previously provided us with technical assistance, he already has some knowledge of the Worcester community and our organization’s work here.”

Martin will take over for former Executive Director Hilda Ramirez, who served in the position since 2008. Martin worked most recently with Commonwealth Corporation in Boston, where he was a Senior Program Manager. There, he provided policy and program guidance to support the Workforce Investment Act Youth Program and served as Director of Community Service for Whittier Street Health Center in Roxbury.

The Worcester Youth Group is an educational, recreational and social facility serving Worcester since 1994. For more information, click here.
