Public Safety Office Launches Campaign to Discourage Drunk Driving

Saturday, December 20, 2014

'Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over,' the Executive Office of Public Safety and Security's Highway Safety Division (EOPSS-HSD) statewide campaign to curb drunk driving, kicked off it's second three-week long push to discourage drunk driving during the holiday season.

The campaign kicked off this summer for three weeks in August into September. The campaign requires an extra presence of state and local law enforcement, and community education during the three-week program.

According to the EOPSS-HSD, there were 349 motor vehicle-related fatalities in Massachusetts in 2012. Of those fatalities, thirty five percent involved a blood-alcohol content of .08 or higher.
