Worcester is the 25th least obese city in America. According to a study by Wallethub, titled 2015's Metro Areas with the Biggest and Smallest Weight Problems, out of 100 of the most populated U.S. metro areas where "weight-related problems call for heightened attention", Worcester ranked on the healthier end of the list and finished with a low obesity prevalence ranking.

The study examined 12 metrics including the percentage of adults and children who are overweight, the percentage of adults and children who are obese, the percentage of residents who are physically inactive and have high cholesterol, people with diabetes, residents that don't eat five servings of fruits and vegetables every day, residents with high blood pressure, and the city's obesity fatality rate.

The study shows that while Worcester lacks health food store options and many of its residents do not live an active lifestyle, the city does rank in the top 25 in low obesity prevalence and low unhealthy eating habits and consequences.

Only three other New England cities fared better in the rankings including Hartford, Bridgeport and Boston.

Boston was ranked #4 among the 100 cities for the least amount of adults who are obese.

Portland, Maine was ranked #1 for lowest percentage of adults eating less than five servings of fruits and vegetables every day, followed by Bridgeport (#2) and Hartford (#5).

Portland also ranked #5 for the lowest percentage of residents who are physically inactive.
