VIDEO: In Surprise Move Trump Enters Into North Korea to Meet Kim Jong-un
Monday, July 01, 2019
President Donald Trump became the first sitting American commander in chief to set foot in North Korea on Sunday.
Trump crossed the Demilitarized Zone and meet with Kim Jong-un, the North Korean leader.
The two leaders agreed to restart formal negotiations to seek a long-elusive nuclear agreement.
‘It is good to see you again,’ a seemingly exuberant Kim told the president through an interpreter. ‘I never expected to meet you in this place.’
‘Big moment, big moment,’ Trump said,” according to the New York Times.
"There did not appear to be any new commitments made in Trump's 50-minute meeting with Kim beyond an agreement to restart talks. And Trump himself said afterward he was in no rush to rid North Korea of its nuclear weapons," reports CNN.
